Bitcoin investment calculator: what would it be worth today?

Enter an amount and a purchase date to see what that Bitcoin would be worth on the latest close, 6 October 2026. For example, $1,000 of Bitcoin bought five years ago, on 6 October 2021, would be worth $1,545 today — though on 21 November 2022 it was worth $285.17.

$1,000 of Bitcoin bought on 6 October 2021 at $55,361.45 would be worth $1,545 on 6 October 2026: 1.55× the money, +54.5%.

On the way, it was worth as little as $285.17 (−71.5%) on 21 November 2022.

Fed in instead — $18.87 a week for 12 months from the same day, then held — the same money would be worth $2,659, so buying at once finished $1,113 behind.

If you had bought $1,000 of Bitcoin on 1 January

Each row is $1,000 bought on the first close of the year, valued on 6 October 2026. The fourth column is the lowest the purchase fell against its cost before today — the number a “what would it be worth” calculator usually leaves out — and the last is the same $1,000 fed in weekly over that year instead.

11 of those 12 purchases spent time below cost before 6 October 2026; the deepest was the 1 January 2018 purchase, down 76.3% at its worst, on 15 December 2018. Buying all at once finished ahead of feeding the money in over the year in 8 of the 11 years where both can be measured.

What the headline number leaves out

No forecast. This page does not project anything forward. Calculators that do have to assume a growth rate — one you type, or a fixed “conservative, moderate, aggressive” — and the answer is then that assumption, compounded. Every figure here is a purchase that could actually have been made, at a real close, valued at a real close.

The ride. A purchase that ends up 139.6× over ten years can still have halved on the way, and most people who sell do it in the fall, not at the end. That is why the result above shows the worst point next to the final one.

Costs. Exchange fees, spreads and taxes are excluded, and the price is a daily close, not the price you would have paid at a particular minute. A small purchase with a flat fee would have done measurably worse than shown.

All at once, or spread out?

The second column in the calculator answers a question the first cannot: what if the same money had gone in gradually instead of on one day? That is dollar-cost averaging, and on Bitcoin's record the answer is usually that buying at once ended with more — with a tail that was brutal when it went the other way. DCA vs lump sum, measured on every start date sizes both sides. If you are putting money in a little at a time rather than all at once, the simulator runs any schedule, and the coin calculators run it for Ethereum, Solana and XRP beside Bitcoin.

Common questions

How much would I have if I invested $1,000 in Bitcoin a year ago?
$1,000 of Bitcoin bought on 6 October 2025 at $124,752.53 would be worth $685.82 on 6 October 2026, the latest close (−31.4%). On the way it was worth as little as $469.40 (−53.1%) on 30 June 2026.
How much would I have if I invested $1,000 in Bitcoin 5 years ago?
$1,000 of Bitcoin bought on 6 October 2021 at $55,361.45 would be worth $1,545 on 6 October 2026, the latest close (+54.5%). On the way it was worth as little as $285.17 (−71.5%) on 21 November 2022.
How much would I have if I invested $1,000 in Bitcoin 10 years ago?
$1,000 of Bitcoin bought on 6 October 2016 at $613.02 would be worth $139,567 on 6 October 2026, the latest close (+13,856.7%). It never closed below what it cost.
What price does the calculator use?
The daily close in US dollars from Yahoo Finance's BTC-USD series, from 17 September 2014 to 6 October 2026. A purchase dated on a day with no close is made at the next close. The same prices run the simulator and the site's articles.
Does it include fees or taxes?
No. Fees, spreads and taxes are excluded, so a real purchase would have done somewhat worse, and a small one with a flat fee noticeably worse.
Can it tell me what Bitcoin will be worth in the future?
No, and it does not try. Every figure is a past purchase at a real close. A calculator that projects forward is showing you the growth rate it assumed, not anything about Bitcoin.

How this is calculated

Every figure on this page is computed by the same engine the simulator runs, from daily closes in US dollars — the feeds, their first readings and refresh times are on the sources page. Purchases are made at the close of the day they are scheduled for, or the next close when there is none. Fees, spreads and taxes are excluded. Nothing here is projected forward. The calculator above reruns that engine in your browser when you change an input; the result printed with the page is the same calculation, made when the page was built.
